Principal's Message

Gledhill School Front

Dear Staff, Parents, Students and Community,

Welcome back, Gledhill Street Elementary and Gledhill Magnet.  I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! My name is Linda Bueno and I am your principal.  I have worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for the past fifteen years in several capacities.  I have worked as an Elementary Teacher, Targeted Student Population Advisor, and Magnet Coordinator, to name a few.  My experience, ranging from working for predominantly Latino communities, Low-Performing Schools, Title 1 Schools to a Highly Gifted Magnet Center, has assisted me in recognizing that communities vary within the district.  My experiences working with different populations have allowed me to grow as an educator.  I am prepared to be your effective, instructionally sound leader who will promote a productive partnership with you to ensure that all students achieve their highest potential.

As the educational leader, my vision is that all students will be college and career ready.  In order to do this, I must ensure that all stakeholders are active participants in the school.  Parents, community and staff are all vital components of a successful school and must be informed and knowledgeable about the school; therefore it is essential that I often hold daytime and evening parent workshops, the English Learner Advisory Committee and School Site Council in order to give you, parents and staff, a voice.  As partners, I will keep all stakeholders abreast of information when budget, calendaring, school safety, importance of regular school attendance and technology are discussed.  Technology, using Common Core State Standards as a tool, is a necessary component of the instructional program.

Promotion of a positive school culture is central to school success.  Both community involvement and an innovative parent education program are vital, and my desire is for all parents, staff and students to feel heard and appreciated.  As your leader, I will build a solid connection from home to school by establishing a strong parent center where families and staff will be welcomed to partake in all activities.

As partners, we share the responsibility to make a great difference in our children’s education and their social and emotional well-being.  I encourage you to ask your children to share their daily school experiences with you.  I know that you will support them as they make their way toward college and career readiness.

The wonderful Gledhill staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support, and look forward to meeting you.

Linda Bueno, Principal
